How to Send Ephemeral Messages FAQ in Discord
Shhh, don’t tell anyone! Ephemeral Messages are a new feature that allow bots on Discord to send you a private message without first having to send you a Direct Message (DM). You may have received a message similar to this one in the past from Clyde, and now bots are able to send them as well!
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is this kind of message?
A message that is issued by Clyde or one of the other bots on Discord is referred to as a “Ephemeral Message.” It’s a secret message that no one else can see but you. When you dismiss these messages, wait for a sufficient amount of time, or restart Discord, they will be deleted.
Q: When can bots send me ephemeral messages?
When you employ a Slash Command, bots will only be able to send you this particular type of message. They will need to direct message you as an alternative if the bot you are utilising does not support Slash Commands.
Q: Help! The message disappeared!
Ephemeral Messages are not meant to be stored for an extended period of time. These will vanish after a brief period of time or when you resume Discord, whichever comes first.
Q: Can I delete the message?
You can dismiss the message and have it removed from your chat by clicking or tapping on the “Dismiss message” button.
