What is Custom Status in Discord and How to clear it?
You have just finished making yourself a delicious bowl of cereal, and your friends are yelling at you to log in so they can challenge you to a ranked match. You might be wondering, “How can I tell my friends that I’m busy eating cereal without actually having a conversation with them?” No need to be concerned any longer, please welcome… Custom Statuses!
Note: – Users of iOS, Android, the desktop app, and the browser can set their unique statuses.
You can personalize your status to let other people know what you are doing.
Setting A Custom Status
- Desktop / Browser
- iOS
Desktop Browser in Discord
1. Navigate to the bottom left of your app and click on your profile picture. Next, select the option to Set a custom status.
2. To add an emoji to your custom status, you can do so by clicking on the emoji.
If you have Discord Nitro or Discord Nitro Classic, you’ll even have access to the Custom Server Emojis feature!
3. Enter the custom status you want to use, and then click the Clear After menu to select a period.
Note: – By default, custom statuses are only valid for one day, but you may change the settings so that they are valid for a different amount of time.
4. When you are finished, click the Save button!
Note: – In order to use global emotes that come with Twitch subscriptions in custom status, you will need to have an active Nitro membership.
Edit Or Clear Your Status
To make changes to your personalized status, navigate to the bottom left of your app, click on your profile image, and then click on your custom status.
Click on your profile image, which is located in the bottom left corner of your app, and then click on the “X” icon that is located to the right of your custom status. This will clear your custom status.
Please be aware (I know, lots of notes), that while custom statuses take precedence over other status activities in the members list and DM list, your full profile will still display each of your status actions in their entirety. I know, lots of notes.
IOS
1. To access your User Settings, locate the user symbol in the bottom right corner of your app and press it.
2. To access the settings for your status, press the button labelled “Set Status.”
3. Make sure the button labelled “Set a custom status” is selected.
4. Either select the emoji to add it to your custom status by pressing on it, or input your custom status message into the status text box by selecting the text box next to the emoji.
5. Decide how long you want your custom status to be active for.
6. When you are finished, be sure to hit the save button!
That’s All Folks
Now, walk back to the kitchen and make yourself another bowl of cereal. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome, and you can send them to us at https://dis.gd/feedback. We’d like to know how we might improve the functionality of custom statuses.
