Stage Channel Guidelines – Discord
Whether it is a particular video game, an artist, a hobby, or even matters as contentious as Yoda’s knowledge of Order 66, you can unleash a whole new way to connect you and your community to the things that everyone in your community is passionate about in a more personal way by using stages. This can be done in a way that is more personal. We are interested in expanding these opportunities so that our communities may provide new users with the opportunity to learn about these places. As a result, we are here to assist in providing some guidelines regarding how to make use of these spaces and what is not authorized within them.
Note To Server Owners And Moderators
Due to the fact that Stages will be spaces within your server, it will be the responsibility of the owners of the server as well as the moderators of the stage to ensure that the Stages are held in accordance with the laws and regulations of the server. We give our communities the ability to make decisions and provide them with the resources they require to ensure that these areas do not engage in any infractions and that they are safe, welcome, and free of any hazards. It is important to keep in mind that stages are extensions of your server, and the actions that take place within them are symptomatic of the activities that take place on your server. The number of people who are able to access your stage is not restricted in any way, regardless of whether you want it to be visible solely to members of your server or to others on Discord. There are a few key distinctions between a public stage and a private stage, and the public stage is required to adhere to additional regulations, which are elaborated upon in the following paragraphs.
Discord Stage Guidelines:
1. Ensure that you abide by the Community Guidelines as well as the Terms of Service: As a result of this, moderators and admins on your server will be the ones responsible for resolving issues reported to them. There should be a clear understanding between your moderators and the Trust & Safety team when issues need to be escalated. Discord’s Trust & Safety Team will take further action against servers that violate Discord’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Service if they violate Discord’s Community Guidelines.
- Discord is designed to be a safe, positive, and inclusive experience for all users. To investigate potential violations of our policies, our team in charge of Trust & Safety will conduct investigations of Stages that have been reported to us or that we have identified as likely violations, and our team members may join a live Stage temporarily to investigate these potential violations.
2. The right to intellectual property and other rights of people must be respected. Do not incorporate any content that you do not own or have a license to use. There should be no invasion of privacy, defamation of character, or any other violation of the rights of others.
- At the moment, Discord does not offer a feature for recording or transcribing messages. You should make sure that if you decide to use third-party tools to capture or transcribe your event, you are following all relevant laws, such as the consent of the speaker and audience if necessary if you are using a third-party recording tool.
3. Provide a positive and healthy work environment for your employees. The people who come to your stage should feel welcome and comfortable. Provide them with an environment where they would enjoy spending time with one another, sharing interests, taking part in community events, and developing friendships with others. It is important not to cultivate general toxic behavior, harassment of others, or any other form of derogatory words or content.
4. Have a moderator team. Moderators are capable of ensuring that there are no rule-breaking incidents during your Stage events, and can find meaningful ways for your members to engage with one another. Develop a team of moderators who will be trusted members of your community and who can be turned to for help if they need it. Moderators will help facilitate your discussions in your Stage, and they should also be able to enforce the rules specific to your server as well!
5. There should be a topic that accurately describes the stage and a description that is free of profanity. Provide potential members with a clear understanding of why they are interested in joining the Stage. There should be a clear and accurate description and title describing the nature of the event, so that users will not be misled as to who will be speaking or what the discussion will be about.
6. Do not host explicit, graphic, or sexual content. In Stages, explicit and age-restricted content is not allowed to be uploaded. An audience of all ages 13 and older should be able to enjoy the stage performance.
7. Public Stages: Be mindful anyone can join your server while your public Stage is live. When you make your Stage public as an extension of your community, you will also make your server temporarily public during the event, even though these Stages are extensions of your community. It is therefore very important that you mark any and all sensitive channels as private and ensure they have the appropriate permissions and roles attached to them.
