When an announcements channel might not be enough to get the job done, Discord features a pin messages tool that will allow you to have easy access to critical messages from as long back or as recently as you desire, regardless of when they were originally posted.

Adding New Pins in Discord

Have your thumbtacks ready, and get ready to start pinning!

Just clicking on the “three dots”/More symbol located to the far right of a message will allow you to pin that message:

If your role is granted the authority to Manage Messages (or if you are the owner of the server), the “Pin Message” feature will be available to you in the drop-down menu.

You can also accomplish this by using the right mouse button to click on the message.

When you have finished confirming that you wish to pin the message, it will be saved in the pin window.

Remember to check your work for both posterity and brilliance, as the prompt instructs you to do. You should know that they are not any ordinary texts at all.

Note: You are only allowed 50 pins in each channel or direct message, so choose which messages you save carefully.

Viewing All Pinned Messages in Discord

Any message that has been pinned will be displayed in the pin window, which can be reached by clicking on the pin icon in the top-right corner of the screen:

Jumping To Pinned Message in Discord

You can go all the way back to the time when that particular message was first written by clicking the “jump” link that is located next to the pinned message in the pin window. This is another crucial thing to keep in mind, as it does not matter how long ago the message was pinned:

Removing Pins in Discord

Removing pins when you no longer require them or deleting old pins to make room for more is also a simple and straightforward process.

When you are ready to unpin a message, simply click the “X” icon that is located directly to the right of the “Jump” button that we saw earlier:

Last Protip: You may unlock full rapid-fire unpinning craziness by holding shift while clicking the “X” unpin icon in the pin window. This will allow you to circumvent the “kthx” unpinning notice that appears above the pin window.
