Why Is A Server Labeled As Age-Restricted?

Our Community Guidelines mandate that any pornographic content that is shared on Discord must be hidden behind an access gate that requires a password. By installing an age-restricted gate, a server owner can identify a certain channel as being for users 18 and older. With the implementation of a new age-restricted server designation, it is now possible to label entire servers as being suitable for players aged 18 and older.

If the community of a server is centered on topics that are restricted to people of a certain age or if the vast bulk of the server’s content is devoted to material intended for people 18 and older, the server must be labeled as age-restricted.

I can’t view or join Age-Restricted servers. What should I do?

You will not be permitted to join age-restricted servers or view the content within those servers if you are between the ages of 13 and 17 years old.

Age-restricted servers can only be joined on desktop computers or mobile devices running Android by users who are 18 years old or older. For users of iOS devices, “opting in on desktop” is a prerequisite before they can access age-restricted services while using their iOS device.

How to opt in for iOS:

Log in to the desktop version of Discord, and then head over to your User Settings. You can access your User Settings by tapping the gear icon located in the app’s lower left-hand corner.

To ensure your privacy and safety, select “Privacy & Safety” from the “User Settings” menu.

Locate the option labeled “Allow access to age-restricted content on iOS,” and then toggle it on. By doing this, you will be able to use your iOS device to visit age-restricted servers of which you are already a member.

Additionally, a fraction of age-restricted servers that are particularly focused on explicit pornographic content will have their iOS access completely revoked.

• Desktop and web versions of Discord are the only ones that older iOS users who are at least 18 years old will be able to use to join and access these specialized pornography servers.

Note:

On iOS, only the owners and moderators of age-restricted servers will be able to view and administer the servers that fall into this particular subset of age-restricted servers.

How Do I Update My Age Information?

If you are over the age of 18 and have been locked out of a server because it has an age restriction, you have the right to appeal by following the methods that are provided below:

Step 1: 

Please take a picture of yourself holding each of the items listed below. In a single photograph, all of the necessary information, including your face, must be discernible and readable.

1. A photo identification that features your date of birth and is legible at all times.
2. A sheet of paper with your complete Discord Tag written on it (containing your username and the final four numbers following your username, such as “Wumpus#1234” for example).

Step 2: 

1. After you have taken the photo, send a request to the Trust & Safety team through this link: https://dis.gd/request. When prompted to choose a report type, select “Appeals, age update, other questions” from the drop-down menu.
2. You must use the email address that is connected to your Discord account.To preserve the users’ privacy and ensure their safety, our Trust and Safety team requires that the request come directly from the email address that is associated with the Discord account.
3. Unfortunately, our team is unable to provide any more support if the Discord account was not claimed and validated with an email address.

It is only to verify your age that the information you provide will be used, and it will not be used for any other purpose.
